Bold Botanicals

I've always been an art student, but classic mediums have never been my forté.  I love pointillism, collage, sketching...but clean cut drawings, painting, portraits...not so much.  Ultimately, cake is my strength, I can paint on it, draw on it, and sculpt it...just don't ever ask me to translate it to paper.

About 18 months ago I was handed a floral invitation as inspiration for a 90th birthday cake.  I created a semblance of the flowers from the invitation with a small off-set spatula and paper corner (super tiny piping bag made from parchment paper).  I was thrilled with the outcome, and my technique has evolved from there.  Six months ago I stumbled upon 10 Bloom Cake's Instagram profile and was instantly enthralled.  OMG...Miri's cakes are amazing!  Even better, she teaches her techniques, and I had the opportunity to take one of her classes, the end result - I came, I saw, and damn can I now do some big beautiful flowers that our customers are loving as much as we are!
